Google Maps x Billie Eilish - Koto Studio

Recently Koto helped a collaboration of massive proportions between Google Maps and Billie Eilish. I was fortunate to be the lead animator on the project, animating and prepping it to be displayed in Times Square and Billie’s social media accounts.

The team at Koto did an amazing job combining the realms of Google Map’s iconography with the high energy of Billie’s rockstar world. It was an honor to work alongside with the Google Maps team and Koto to make this thing come alive. At the end of the day, it felt we had landed on something energetic, fun, and unique to spread the word.

A huge thank you to Tom, the animation director, who helped tremendously in the motion department and came through in so many clutch moments. He created some of the assets on this page, polished some of my own, and assisted with the main NYC billboard spot.

We also couldn’t have done it without the help of Braulio, Dee, and Phoebe, who worked tirelessly on this project as well. As well as the other talented folk on staff at Koto.
